WaveBoost Project

Wave energy specialist CorPower Ocean, a Swedish based engineering company, finalised a 3-year EU-funded trial to test the performance of new wave energy technology. The wave technology indicates promising potential to boost cost, efficiency and carbon savings, with those behind the project hoping the results can help steer the nascent sector towards commercialisation.

The results from the trial show that the carbon intensity is comparable with other renewable technologies today and is over 10 times less than conventional gas turbines, securing the pathway to low carbon intensity WEC technology.

Commercialisation of wave energy, as complementary electricity production to wind and solar power, could be a big step forward towards a 100% renewable future.
